    Topic Importance

According to McCabe et al. (2013), diverse, multilingual families have been an increasing metric in the United States. It is important then, that as multilingual families become more and more common in the United States, they are made to feel welcomed and supported in the classroom. For teachers, supporting a multilingual classroom, especially when that teacher may be monolingual, may seem like a difficult task. It is important to provide teachers and other educators with the knowledge and resources needed to support and uplift young multilingual learners and their families.
